The Elegant Egg Cup offers a “new” twist on traditional bridal registry

 

Unlike traditional bridal tabletop registries, which offer the bride, conventional new china, primarily by the place setting, The Elegant Egg cup offers estate china from 1850 – 1950 from manufacturers such as Minton, Worcester, Royal Doulton, Haviland, and Pouyat (a Limoges company) which can be used alone or paired with new china, crystal, and flatware from such manufacturers as Raynaud, Anna Weatherly, Mottahedah, Royal Crown Derby, Cocquet and others, to create a table setting which is unique and is truly reflective of the couples own personal style. Additionally, many couples today already have some tableware of their own, many with inherited pieces from relatives and this affords them an opportunity to incorporate those pieces as well. The collection also offers the prospective couple the opportunity to create settings, whose styles range from extremely formal, to very casual, ultra modern and chic, to traditional. We want you to love your china years from now. We also offer crystal, flatware, and accessories as well. Pretty much anything you could need for entertaining, whether it be the most grand of dinner parties or a few friends for cocktails.

Spread out through the shop are many examples of our mix and match philosophy, so prospective couples can really see how it is possible to take pieces from as many as four or five manufacturers and a like number of patterns and create a very exciting and contemporary looking setting even though some of the china could be as much as 150 years old. We spend a great deal of time with the couple to get a sense of their entertaining style and habits. There is no point in someone registering for service for 12 if they have never thrown a dinner party before. But starting out with pieces which are conducive to casual entertaining, in manageable numbers such as buffets, sushi or pizza, makes much more sense bearing in mind that the look can be expanded upon as their style matures. We have seen too many couples in our shop who’ve been married for a few years and have all this grand matching formal china, which they have never used and don’t really like. One of our main goals in creating a registry for young couples is to select patterns which will enable you to change it up as your style changes and your tastes evolve. Of course for the couple who have already developed a love for entertaining the possibilities are endless. We want you to love your china years from now.

To finish the look, The Egg Cup carries Table & Bed linens from a number of European manufacturers including Alexander Turpault. Alxexandre Turpault linens are manufactured in the Loire Valley from a mill that is over 100 years old. They come in an exciting range of 28 colors from rich chocolate brown to the palest of pink and electric colors such as fuchsia, mango, and lime. The line includes tablecloths, napkins, placemats and runners. The colors are so rich and vibrant that the really make the china pop!! All of our linens are machine washable and come with complete care instructions. We believe that you should use all the things you receive as gifts (and if it’s not easy to take of you aren’t going to use it!)

Gift baskets that incorporate the china and linens are also very popular for bridal showers, engagements, and wedding gifts. Two of the most popular are breakfast in bed for two and the romantic place setting for two.
